Meet the Governors

Nicola Adams – Headteacher

Nicola began working at Longlands during her final PGCE placement in the Spring of 2009. She then joined the teaching team and worked in a variety of years groups across the school for the next five years. In this time Nicola took on the roles of PE and Maths subject leader and joined the Senior Leadership Team. In 2014, Nicola left Longlands to become Assistant Head at a large primary school in Welwyn Garden City; maintaining a teaching role in Year 2. As of September 2017, Nicola took up a new post as Primary Teaching and Learning Adviser, for HfL. She enjoys working with a variety of schools across the county to support the development of teaching and learning in Mathematics. This includes running training events, developing Mathematics curriculum, modelling lessons, data analysis and developing the role of Maths Subject Leaders. Nicola joined the Governing body in November 2017 and enjoys working with the team at Longlands again.

Joe Wilkinson – Chair of Governors (Parent Governor)

Joe is a School Business Leader in a Primary School in Edmonton, Enfield. His eldest child currently attends Longlands.  Joe has worked in the education and social care sector for the last 15 years in different roles.

He is a keen sportsman with a love for cricket and rugby (and generally all sports!)  Joe joined the governing board to give something back to the school and to offer support in any way that he can.

Donna Hunt – Staff Governor/Deputy Headteacher

Donna is Deputy Headteacher. She joined the Longlands’ family back in 2002, beginning her teaching career here.  As the years have passed, Donna has enjoyed teaching across a range of year groups and is currently working with Y2. Over the last few years, she has worked on both the Primary Science Quality Mark award and the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership, completing both successfully, which enabled her to develop the school grounds and raise the profile of Science within the school.  Donna is dedicated in developing children’s learning- to inspire and influence the children of today.  A busy mum of two, outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dogs and socialising.

Ana Vilhete – Co-opted Governor

Ana Vilhete is a Co-opted Governor who resides in close proximity to the school. As a successful business owner with offices located in Canary Wharf, Ana brings insights to her role. Inspired by her strong desire to serve the community, Ana is committed to continuing her tenure as a governor for years to come. She actively collaborates with the Head Teacher, governors, and staff at the school, working closely together to ensure the best outcomes for the students and the broader school community.

Maria Almeida – Co-opted Governor

Maria is a newly appointed Co-opted Governor with a deep passion for education and giving back to the community. Before embarking on a successful career in dentistry, Maria was a teacher, which gives her a unique perspective on both education and child development. With over 25 years of experience as a dentist, she has worked across a range of settings and holds a Master’s in Dental Public Health from UCL. Maria is particularly passionate about promoting health and well-being among young people and is committed to supporting the next generation to grow up healthy and thrive. She is excited to work alongside the school’s leadership team to contribute to the success of Longlands.
