‘Onwards and Upwards!’

Curriculum Overview

Our Curriculum Vision

At Longlands Primary School and Nursery, we believe that learning should be exciting, meaningful and inclusive. Our curriculum is designed to educate the whole child, supporting not only academic achievement but also personal growth, creativity, emotional wellbeing and social development.

We are proud of the high standards our children achieve, but just as importantly, we want every pupil to enjoy their learning, feel safe and valued, and leave our school with the confidence and skills they need for life beyond primary education.

Our Ethos: Onwards and Upwards

Our mission statement, Onwards and Upwards, reflects our belief in continuous growth, resilience and striving to be the best we can be together. We work in close partnership with parents, families and the wider community to support every child’s development. These relationships are central to our success and help us create a strong, caring and connected school community.

Our Curriculum Approach

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and carefully planned to meet the requirements of the English National Curriculum while reflecting the unique character and values of our school. It is designed to:

  • Equip children with essential knowledge, skills and concepts across all subjects
  • Nurture curiosity, creativity and a love of learning
  • Promote independence, resilience and critical thinking
  • Celebrate diversity and encourage respect for others
  • Prepare children for the next stage of their education and for life in modern Britain

We provide rich learning experiences that support children’s social, emotional, physical and academic development. Learning is brought to life through engaging topics, hands on activities, outdoor learning and opportunities to explore the world around them.
