Ian Kenealy – Local Authority Governor (Chair)

Ian lives in walking distance from the school and has two children, both of whom have moved on from Longlands and now attend a local secondary school. He works as a director at a FTSE 100 company in the City of London and has served on the governing body for 9 years having started as a parent governor. Ian is now the Chair of the Governing Body and works closely with the head, staff and the vice chairs of governors to assist the school at every opportunity.

Nicola Adams – Co-opted Governor

Nicola began working at Longlands during her final PGCE placement in the Spring of 2009. She then joined the teaching team and worked in a variety of years groups across the school for the next five years. In this time Nicola took on the roles of PE and Maths subject leader and joined the Senior Leadership Team. In 2014, Nicola left Longlands to become Assistant Head at a large primary school in Welwyn Garden City; maintaining a teaching role in Year 2. As of September 2017, Nicola took up a new post as Primary Teaching and Learning Adviser, for HfL. She enjoys working with a variety of schools across the county to support the development of teaching and learning in Mathematics. This includes running training events, developing Mathematics curriculum, modelling lessons, data analysis and developing the role of Maths Subject Leaders. Nicola joined the Governing body in November 2017 and enjoys working with the team at Longlands again.

Donna Brown – Staff Governor/Assistant Headteacher

Donna is Assistant Headteacher. She joined the Longlands’ family back in 2002, beginning her teaching career here.  As the years have passed, Donna has enjoyed teaching across a range of year groups and is currently working with Y2. Over the last few years, she has worked on both the Primary Science Quality Mark award and the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership, completing both successfully, which enabled her to develop the school grounds and raise the profile of Science within the school.  Donna is dedicated in developing children’s learning- to inspire and influence the children of today.  A busy mum of two, outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking her dogs and socialising.

Joe Wilkinson – Parent Governor

Joe is a School Business Leader in a Primary School in Edmonton, Enfield. His eldest child currently attends Longlands.  Joe has worked in the education and social care sector for the last 15 years in different roles.

He is a keen sportsman with a love for cricket and rugby (and generally all sports!)  Joe joined the governing board to give something back to the school and to offer support in any way that he can.

Anita Bancerz – Parent Governor

Anita lives within walking distance from the school and has two children who attend Longlands School.  Anita always wanted to be more involved in the life of the school and find ways in which she can support the Headteacher in achieving the best outcomes for all children attending the school. In her professional career, Anita has worked in special education for the last 15 years and has an in depth knowledge of autism alongside extensive experience of developing autism provision and delivering training to a range of professionals. Anita has a wealth of leadership experience in educational settings, and is committed to advocating for the rights of autistic young people and their families.
