- Year 5 Teacher – Mr Sorrell
- Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Ms Benton
Year 5 is a very busy classroom indeed!
We strive to prepare children for Year 6 both academically and socially. The children are encouraged to become responsible for their own learning and belongings. The mornings include guided reading where children develop their comprehension skills in a small group. Numeracy extends the children’s knowledge and skills through problem solving work. Literacy has a real focus and is taught through all subjects.
Our topics include; Ancient Greece, Earthquakes, Crime and Punishment and Space.
We also follow the Jigsaw scheme of work brings together Personal, Social, Health and Economic education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development. Each half term there is a different focus, such as ‘Being Me My World’, ‘Healthy Me’ and ‘Dreams and Goals’.
